Java Script is a client side scripting language, which can be considered to be an extension of HTML. It lets you create interactive pages quickly and easily. Using Java Script you can design your pages to act and react, by modifying content onscreen or interpreting actions from the user. For example, you can change an image on the page when he mouse passes over it(commonly called 'roll-over' effect). Or you can have a pop-up box thanking the user after they have correctly filled out a form online and submitted it. The possibilities are endless. Java Script is one of the 'client-side' scripting languages in use today. 'Client' here refers to your web browser. So 'client-side' scripting is code that runs on your browser. This code doesn't need to transfer information back and forth over the internet when you interact with your page, all the information needed is downloaded to your computer in the go and the results of your actions are displayed on your browser almost immediately.
